CME & STATE LEVEL WORKSHOP 2025
In acknowledgement of International Nurse’s Day and National Forensic Medicine Day, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (SVSU), Meerut, held a two-day State-Level Nursing Workshop and Continuing Medical Education (CME) on June 2 and 3, 2025. The Department of Forensic Medicine, SVSU’s Faculty of Nursing, the Indo Pacific Academy of Forensic Nursing, the ANEI UP chapter, and BD Company collaborated to organize the event, which had as its theme “Clinical Nursing Practice with Forensic Medicine.”
DAY – 1
The program commenced with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony graced by distinguished guests: Maj. Gen. (Dr.) G.K. Thapliyal, Honourable Vice Chancellor of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University; Prof. Dr. Rakesh Gorea, Executive Director at the Medicolegal Institute, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences; Prof. Dr. Adarsh Kumar, President of IAMLE and Secretary General of INPALMS; Prof. Dr. Akhilesh Agarwal, Professor at GSVM Medical College, Kanpur; Dr. Bhim Singh, Professor and Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine, Subharti Medical College; Prof. Dr. Pradeep Singh, Professor and Head of the Department at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Himachal; Dr. Vaibhav Goel, Dean, Faculty of Law; Dr. Surabhi Gupta, Head of the Department of Pharmacology; Dr. Satyam Khare, Vice Principal of Subharti Medical College; Dr. Sanjeev Gupta, Medical Superintendent; and Prof. Dr. Geeta Parwanda, Dean, Faculty of Nursing. The ceremony was accompanied by an invocation song presented by the medical students.
The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Geeta Parwanda, Principal and Dean of Panna Dhai Maa Subharti Nursing College. The guests were warmly greeted with plant saplings as a gesture of respect and environmental consciousness. Words of blessings were shared by Maj. Gen. (Dr.) G.K. Thapliyal, the Honourable Vice Chancellor. The dignitaries then unveiled glimpses of the CME and workshop outcomes, and disclosed “Faculty at a Glance” showcase, which was indeed a great honour. As a token of love and appreciation, the guests were felicitated with mementos by the Panna Dhai Maa Subharti Nursing College.
The inauguration of the skill-based workshop was performed by Prof. Dr. Akhilesh Agarwal, Professor at GSVM Medical College, Kanpur. The workshop was collaboratively organized by Ms. Khushboo Srivastava CTO from One Simulation, Noida; Mr. Sanjay Gaur & Ms.Soumya from Innovation Forum; and Mr. Aseem Khare, senior ASM from BD Company. The inaugural session concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Bhim Singh, Professor and Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine, Subharti Medical College.
The sessions commenced with a keynote address on “History and Scope of Forensic Nursing in India” by Prof. Dr. Rakesh Gorea, Executive Director at the Medicolegal Institute, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences. This was followed by a plenary session titled “The Need and Importance of Celebrating Forensic Medicine Day in India – A Viewpoint” delivered by Prof. Dr. Adarsh Kumar, President of IAMLE and Secretary General of INPALMS.
A panel discussion on “Intercollaborative Team Efforts in Comprehensive Forensic Nursing Care” was also held, moderated by Prof. Dr. Adarsh Kumar. The panel featured esteemed experts including Prof. Dr. Pradeep Singh, Professor and Head of the Department at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Himachal; Dr. Bhim Singh, Professor and Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine, Subharti Medical College; and Dr. Vaibhav Goel, Dean, Faculty of Law. The sessions were followed by a hands-on simulation workshop covering crucial topics such as history taking, criminal abortion and assault, blood transfusion, and adverse drug reactions (ADR).
DAY – 2
The day two program began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony attended by distinguished guests, including Prof. Sriram, Head of the Department of Community Health Nursing; Asso. Prof. Dr. Abhishek Sangal, Professor, Department of Forensic Medicine; Dr. Bhim Singh, Professor and Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine, Subharti Medical College; and Dr. Hitesh Chawla, Professor, Government Medical College Mewat Haryana. Associate Professor Madhuri of the Department of Adult Health Nursing and Prof. Khushboo. An invocation hymn performed by the medical students attended the ceremony. In a show of affection and gratitude, the Panna Dhai Maa Subharti Nursing College presented the guests with keepsakes.
Dr. Neha Gupta, an Associate Professor in the forensic department at Maulana Azad Medical College, performed the opening of the skill-based program. Mr. Sanjay Gaur and Ms. Soumya from Innovation Forum, Mr. Aseem Khare, senior ASM from BD Company, and Ms. Khushboo Srivastava, CTO from One Simulation, Noida, worked together to organize the workshop.
The first session, entitled “IV Cannulation Complications & Phlebitis with activity session for delegates,” began with opening remarks from Mr. Aseem Khare, senior ASM from BD Company. The second session on “Bridging Health Care and Justice: The Role of Forensic Nurses” was led by Dr. Hitesh Chawla, a professor at Government Medical College Mewat, Haryana. The third plenary online session on “Legal Aspects in Comprehensive Forensic Nursing Care of Victim & Family” was led by Dr. Anjani Devi, Professor and Head of the Department of Mental Health Nursing at Narayana College of Nursing Nellore
Following a post-test, a valedictory function, certificate distribution with feedback, and a vote of thanks from Prof. Sriram, Head of the Department of Community Health Nursing, the program came to a close with the playing of the national anthem.Mrs. Lincy, an assistant professor at Panna Dhai Maa Subharti Nursing College, expertly moderated the entire session. Under the distinguished direction of Prof. Dr. Geeta Parwanda, Dean and Principal of Panna Dhai Maa Subharti Nursing College, the program was executed with success by Associate Professor Madhuri from the Adult Health Nursing Department and Prof. Sriram, Head of the Department of Community Health Nursing.
