Guest Lecture on Gaming Industry Trends and Opportunities
The Department of Animation of the Faculty of Fine Arts successfully organized an engaging and informative guest lecture on “Inside the Gaming Industry: Trends & Opportunities” on May 31, 2025, under the able guidance of Dr. Vidhi Khandelwal, Head of the Animation Department. The session was delivered by Mr. Manish Sharma, Technical Manager at Ediiie, a leading game design studio renowned for its work in immersive technologies and interactive experiences.
Mr. Sharma provided an in-depth look into the dynamic world of game development, highlighting emerging trends such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), blockchain-based gaming, and the growing influence of artificial intelligence in gameplay design. Drawing from his extensive experience at Ediiie, he offered students valuable insights into the industry’s evolving landscape and the skill sets in demand for aspiring professionals.
The session also focused on the various career paths available within the gaming ecosystem—from game design and development to animation, storytelling, and user experience (UX) design. Mr. Sharma emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and encouraged students to stay updated with the latest tools and technologies to remain competitive in the field.
The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, during which students enthusiastically engaged with Mr. Sharma, seeking guidance on portfolio building, internships, and the future of gaming in India and globally.
