REPORT ON COMMUNITY-ORIENTED PHYSIOTHERAPY CAMP ORGANISED BY DEPT. OF MUSCULOSKELTAL PHYSIOTHERAPY, JPSCP, SVSU
A community-oriented Physiotherapy Camp was successfully organized on 8 September 2026 (Tuesday) at Multan Nagar Subharti Health Centre, Meerut, as part of the celebration of World Physiotherapy Day. The camp was organized by the Department of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, Jyotirao Phule Subharti College of Physiotherapy, SVSU. in collaboration with the Department of Community Medicine, with the objective of providing accessible physiotherapy services and promoting awareness regarding the prevention and management of musculoskeletal disorders among the underserved community.
The camp was conducted under the supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Danish Nouman, Head, Department of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. The activity was coordinated and executed by a dedicated healthcare team comprising Dr. Sudhakar Viswas, Dr. Akansha Gurjar, Assistant Professor. Dr. Shivam Mishra (PT) (PG–2025 Batch), Dr. Kaishki (PG–2025 Batch), Dr. Anchal, Dr. Yashu Chauhan (PG–2025 Batch), and BPT Interns Muskan and Vikas. The camp was conducted from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, during which a total of 33 participants were evaluated, including 3 faculty members and 30 patients from the local underserved community. The programme commenced with registration and preliminary screening, followed by detailed physiotherapy assessment. The assessment focused on posture, joint mobility, pain intensity, gait pattern, functional limitations, and overall musculoskeletal status. Patients identified with musculoskeletal conditions were provided with individualized advice regarding therapeutic exercises, modification of daily activities, ergonomic practices, and lifestyle management. Based on clinical requirements, on-site physiotherapy interventions including manual therapy, stretching exercises, joint mobilization, therapeutic exercises, and electrotherapy were provided. An awareness session was also conducted to educate participants regarding the prevention and management of arthritis, importance of regular physical activity, obesity control, ergonomic care, and the significance of timely physiotherapy consultation. Patients were encouraged to continue their treatment and follow-up at the institute’s Physiotherapy OPD for comprehensive assessment and monitoring.
Educational guidance and home-based exercise instructions were also provided to promote continuity of care. The camp successfully contributed to community health awareness, early identification of musculoskeletal problems, and improved access to physiotherapy services, thereby reinforcing the institution’s commitment to community engagement and preventive healthcare.
