The Department of Library and Information Science, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut organised a farewell party on 28.07.2026, in honour of the outgoing Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) students. The programme was hosted by the students of the Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLIS) programme with the primary objective of felicitating the academic achievements of the graduating students and extending heartfelt wishes for their future professional endeavours.
The event commenced with an inaugural address by Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and Head of the Department. In his address, he remarked that a farewell does not signify the end of a journey but rather the beginning of a new chapter in life, and observed that the field of library and information science is continuously evolving, with the present cohort of students poised to become the competent information professionals of the future. He expressed confidence that the students would make significant contributions to the progress of society and the nation through their knowledge, skills, and ethical values, and encouraged them to pursue continuous learning, embrace emerging technologies, and discharge their professional responsibilities with integrity and dedication. Following the inaugural address, the department’s students presented a series of vibrant cultural performances, including songs, dance, and various entertaining activities, which lent a memorable character to the celebration. Students also took the opportunity to share their experiences and express gratitude towards the faculty members of the department. In turn, the faculty extended their best wishes to the students for a bright future and urged them to accord lifelong priority to knowledge, discipline, and human values. Mementos and messages of good wishes were presented to the BLIS and MLIS students during the programme, which was conducted throughout in a cordial and congenial atmosphere, allowing students to reminisce about cherished moments spent with their teachers and classmates.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sapna Sharma, who expressed appreciation to all the faculty members, students, and members of the organising committee for their contribution to the event. The farewell party was, on the whole, a resounding success, marked by enthusiastic participation from all attendees. The occasion was graced by the presence of the department’s faculty members, namely Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, Dr. Javed Khan, Dr. Sapna Sharma, Dr. Alpana, Ms. Shalini Tyagi, Ms. Bhavana Joshi, Mr. Rajendra, Ms. Swati, and Mr. Bunty, all of whom highly commended the programme for its warmth and organisation.
