Five Days Scout and Guide Camp Inaugurated at Department of Education, Faculty of Education, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut
The Department of Education, Faculty of Education (FOE), Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut in collaboration with Hindustan Scouts & guides successfully inaugurated a five-day Scout and Guide Camp for the students of B.El.Ed 8th Semester and B.Ed 4th Semester with great enthusiasm and active participation from the students.The camp has been organized with the objective of developing leadership qualities, discipline, teamwork, and a spirit of social service among the students. It aims to provide practical exposure to the principles and activities of scouting and guiding, which play an important role in the overall personality development of future teachers. The inauguration of the Scout and Guide Camp was graced with best wishes from Dean, Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Sandeep Kumar and he also praised and encouraged students to actively participate in such activities for their overall personality development.
The inaugural ceremony began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp before Maa Saraswati, symbolizing the beginning of the program with blessings for knowledge and wisdom. On this occasion, Prof.(Dr.) Anoj Raj, Head, Department of Education,
addressed the gathering and explained the importance and objectives of the Scout and Guide movement. He highlighted that scouting and guiding help in developing self-confidence, responsibility, cooperation, and a strong sense of duty among students. He also motivated the trainees to actively participate in all the activities organized during the camp and learn valuable life skills.
During the inaugural session, Dr. Manoj KumarTripathi also interacted with the students and shared important information related to scouting and guiding activities. He encouraged the trainees to develop leadership abilities, discipline, and teamwork through active involvement in the camp programs.
The camp is being organized under the coordination of Dr. Ragini Srivastava, and Ms. Vaishali Saini , Scouts & guides Coordinator, Department of Education).
Their dedicated efforts and guidance ensured the smooth organization and successful inauguration of the camp.
A large number of students from B.El.Ed 8th Semester and B.Ed 4th Semester participated enthusiastically in the program and showed great interest in learning about the principles and practices of scouting and guiding. The five-day camp will include several informative sessions and practical activities designed to promote discipline, teamwork, leadership, and a sense of responsibility among the trainees.
The inaugural program concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Rubi, who expressed her sincere gratitude to all the respected faculty members, coordinators, and students for their valuable presence and support in making the program successful. The camp is expected to provide a meaningful and enriching learning experience for all the participants.
During the first day, the Scout and Guide Trainer Mr. Abhishek Mathur (Hindustan Scout and Guide) introduced the basic principles and objectives of the Scout and Guide movement. He explained the importance of teamwork, discipline, and responsibility in the life of a scout and guide. The trainer also demonstrated different types of clapping methods used during scout activities such as the Scout and Guide clap, Welcome clap, and Thank You clap, which are used to encourage and appreciate participants during different sessions and activities.
For better participation and coordination, the students were divided into three groups on the basis of states. The groups were named Punjab, Haryana, and Gujarat. Each group was given a leader who would guide the members and help maintain discipline during the camp activities. This grouping helped in building teamwork, cooperation, and leadership skills among the participants.
The trainer also instructed the students to perform a social activity as part of the camp learning process. The participants were asked to prepare charts on different social awareness topics and present them before the group. This activity aims to develop confidence, communication skills, and awareness about important social issues. Students were also guided to prepare their activity files and maintain a proper record of daily camp activities and reports.
The first day of the camp was very informative and interactive. The students actively participated in the sessions and showed great enthusiasm in learning the values and skills promoted through the Scout and Guide movement.
