Department of Physical Education in Collaboration with Entrepreneurship Development Cell Organizes Guest Lecture on “Entrepreneurship Development in Sports Industry”

The Department of Physical Education, Faculty of Education, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, successfully organized a Guest Lecture on “Entrepreneurship Development in Sports Industry” on 15 May 2026 at the Seminar Hall, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University. The programme was conducted with the objective of promoting entrepreneurial awareness, innovation, startup culture, and self-employment opportunities among students in the field of sports and physical education.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Manju Adhikari, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Physical Education, who formally welcomed the dignitaries and participants. As a mark of respect and appreciation, the distinguished Resource Person, Dr. Swatentra Singh, Professor, Saraswati PG College, Hathras, was felicitated with a ceremonial shawl (Padtka) and a sapling.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Swatentra Singh delivered an insightful and motivating lecture on the vast entrepreneurial opportunities available in the sports industry. He highlighted emerging sectors such as sports academies, fitness and wellness centres, sports event management, sports marketing, athlete management, sports consultancy, sports tourism, sports equipment manufacturing, and digital sports enterprises. He emphasized that the sports industry has evolved into a dynamic economic sector offering numerous opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship.

The resource person discussed the essential qualities of a successful entrepreneur, including leadership, creativity, strategic planning, communication skills, and risk-taking ability. He encouraged students to explore entrepreneurial ventures within the sports ecosystem and utilize their academic knowledge and professional skills to establish sustainable enterprises. The session also focused on startup development, government support schemes, incubation facilities, funding opportunities, and emerging trends in sports business management.

A special emphasis was placed on the role of the Entrepreneurship Development Cell in nurturing entrepreneurial talent, supporting innovative ideas, and guiding students toward startup development and self-employment opportunities. Participants were informed about various institutional initiatives available for aspiring entrepreneurs within the university ecosystem.

The lecture was highly interactive, with students, faculty members, and research scholars actively participating in discussions and seeking guidance on entrepreneurship, business planning, startup challenges, and future opportunities in the sports sector. The practical examples and success stories shared by the speaker made the session highly engaging and inspiring.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and research scholars. The event proved highly beneficial in enhancing entrepreneurial awareness, innovation skills, leadership qualities, and career preparedness among the participants.
