The guest lecture began with a lamp-lighting ceremony attended by the resource persons, Dr. Rahul Bansal and Mr. Kuldeep Narayan, Dr. Jyoti Madhur, the coordinator, and students of all years. Miss Avantika, a first-year BNYS student, then presented Saraswati Vandana.

The resource person Mr. Kuldeep Narayan from the Sanskriti Department led the first discussion about Maharishi Aurobindo’s life. He told the students that he was a spiritual practitioner, an Indian philosopher, and a great yogi. On August 15, 1872, Sri Aurobindo was born in Calcutta. He was sent to England for education with his two older brothers when he was seven years old in 1879, and they stayed there for fourteen years. Initially raised in an English household in Manchester, he enrolled in St. Paul’s School in London in 1884. He left the school in 1890 to spend two years as a student at King’s College, Cambridge with senior classical scholarship. He also passed the open competition for the Indian Civil Service in 1890, but at the end of two years of probation failed to present himself at the riding examination and was disqualified for the Service. The Gaekwar of Baroda was in London at this time. After catching a glimpse of him, Sri Aurobindo secured a position in the Baroda Service and departed from England for India, arrived in February 1893.

The second session was taken by Dr. Rahul Bansal, a Professor from Subharti Community Medicine in which he enlightened the students with the knowledge of Maharishi Aurobindo about health. How Aurobindo ji was working and promoting health.

He also explained many quotations of Aurobindo’s, examples like:

“Perfect health, sincerity, honesty, straightforwardness, courage, disinterestedness, unselfishness, patience, endurance, perseverance, peace, calm, and self-control are all things that are taught infinitely better by example than by beautiful speeches.”

“Our actual enemy is not any force exterior to ourselves, but our own crying weaknesses, our cowardice, our selfishness, our hypocrisy, our purblind sentimentalism.”

“A quiet mind does not mean that there will be no thoughts or mental movements at all, but that these will be on the surface, and you will feel your true being within, separate from them, observing but not carried away”

Total of 128 students were participated in the guest lecture and completed successfully.
