Department of Physical Education Organizes Guest Lecture on “Sports Psychology and Motivation”

The Department of Physical Education, Faculty of Education, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University successfully organized a Guest Lecture on “Sports Psychology and Motivation” on 14 May 2026 at the Seminar Hall, Faculty of Education. The programme was conducted with the objective of enhancing students’ understanding regarding psychological aspects of sports performance, motivation, mental conditioning, and emotional management in athletics and physical education.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Manju Adhikari, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Physical Education, who felicitated the distinguished Resource Person, Dr. G.S. Ruhal, Sports Officer, Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, by presenting a ceremonial shawl (Padtka) and a sapling as a token of respect and gratitude.

The guest lecture was successfully coordinated under the convenorship of Dr. Ankit Singh Jadon, Assistant Professor, Department of Physical Education, whose dedicated efforts contributed significantly towards the smooth and successful conduct of the programme. Faculty members of the department were also present during the session and actively supported the event.

During the lecture, Dr. G.S. Ruhal delivered an insightful and motivational session focusing on the role of sports psychology in enhancing athletic performance, confidence building, emotional stability, concentration, and competitive behavior. The resource person elaborated on various psychological factors affecting sports performance, including stress, anxiety, motivation, self-confidence, goal setting, and mental toughness.

The speaker highlighted the importance of positive motivation, psychological preparation, and mental conditioning for achieving excellence in sports and academics. Various practical examples, motivational techniques, and real-life sports experiences were shared during the session to help students understand the significance of mental strength and emotional control in competitive environments.

Interactive discussions and question-answer sessions enabled students to actively engage with the resource person and clarify their doubts related to sports psychology, motivation strategies, and performance enhancement. The session created an inspiring and energetic learning atmosphere for all participants.

Approximately 55 students enthusiastically participated in the programme and gained valuable knowledge regarding psychological preparation, motivation techniques, and mental well-being in sports. The lecture proved highly informative and beneficial for students pursuing careers in physical education, sports coaching, and sports sciences.

The Department of Physical Education expressed sincere gratitude to the distinguished Resource Person for delivering a highly enriching and impactful lecture. The programme reflected the department’s commitment towards quality education, holistic student development, and scientific learning in alignment with NAAC quality initiatives and NEP 2020 objectives.
