Department of Languages, Faculty of Arts and Social Science, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, organized ‘Hindi Week (Saptah) -2026’ from September 8 to 14, 2026, to mark Hindi Diwas. Throughout the week-long event, various literary, creative, and intellectual competitions were held for students. Students participated enthusiastically in events such as quizzes, poster making, self-composed poetry recitation, essay writing, and debates.
Objectives
The key objectives were to:
- Promote appreciation of Hindi language, literature and cultural heritage.
- Develop students’ creativity, communication, presentation and critical-thinking skills.
- Encourage the use of Hindi in academic, creative and contemporary contexts.
- Provide students with opportunities for cultural expression, participation and collaboration.
On September 14, the occasion of Hindi Diwas, a special celebration was organized through the joint collaboration of the Department of Languages, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Maharshi Aurobindo Subharti College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University. During the ceremony, students who won the various competitions held during Hindi Week were awarded prizes and certificates to encourage and appreciate their efforts.
A major highlight of the event was the dance and theatrical performances presented by the students. These performances, centered on the Hindi language, Indian culture, and social issues, deeply moved the audience. Tripti Mittal, Jyoti, Yashika, Anushka, Fabian, Vanika, Swati, Vani, Kim, Riya, Mahak, and Jayashree played key roles in the cultural presentations. Through their performances, the students vividly brought the cultural diversity and rich tradition of Hindi to the stage.
Prof. (Dr.) Sudhir Tyagi, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, delivered the welcome address at the ceremony. Describing Hindi as a powerful expression of Indian culture, sensibilities, and national identity, he encouraged students to make greater use of the language in their daily lives. He remarked that language is not merely a medium of communication but also a potent vehicle for transmitting our culture and values to the next generation.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Vaibhav Goel Bharatiya, Dean, Research Cell, stated that Hindi is a rich carrier of Indian knowledge, thought, and cultural heritage. He noted that the relevance of Hindi has grown significantly in today’s technological and globalized era. He urged students to move forward by integrating Hindi with modern knowledge, science, and research.
In his message, Prof. (Dr.) S.C. Tiwari observed that Hindi is a language that effortlessly expresses our emotions, thoughts, and Indian values. He emphasized that the true strength of any language lies in its continuous use and its connection with the new generation. He advised students to embrace Hindi not just as a subject of study, but as an effective medium for expressing their ideas and creative talents.
At the conclusion of the program, Prof. (Dr.) Seema Sharma, Head, Department of Language, proposed the vote of thanks. She expressed her gratitude to the university administration, faculty members, students, and partner institutions for their support in making the celebrations a success.
