Website Update: Faculty of Management & Commerce Organizes Industrial Visit to BHEL, Haridwar
Meerut, October 01, 2026 — In its continuous endeavor to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical corporate exposure, the Faculty of Management & Commerce (FoMC) at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, organized an enriching industrial visit for its students to the Haridwar manufacturing complex of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).
BHEL, a premier Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) and designated Maharatna enterprise, offered the student delegation a rare, behind-the-scenes look into large-scale industrial operations and modern manufacturing excellence.
Bridging Pedagogy and Corporate Practice
The academic delegation comprised 40 students selected from various undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including MBA, BBA, B.Com, and B.Com (Honours). The trip was coordinated and mentored by faculty members Dr. Preeti Singhwal (Assistant Professor, FoMC) and Dr. Gaurab Kumar Sharma (Associate Professor, FoMC).
The trip commenced from the SVSU campus, where the students were warmly seen off and blessed by Prof. (Dr.) Padma Misra, Officiating Dean, Faculty of Management & Commerce, who encouraged the cohort to actively observe shop-floor management and operational dynamics.
Key Highlights & Operational Exposure
During their guided tour of the BHEL Haridwar complex, students engaged directly with industry experts and technical teams, gaining invaluable insights into:
- Large-Scale Manufacturing & Assembly: Observing heavy engineering processes, shop-floor layouts, and the assembly lines of massive power generation equipment.
- Quality Assurance Frameworks: Learning about total quality management (TQM), stringent industrial testing, and safety protocols executed within a major PSU environment.
- Core Management Applications: Witnessing how principles of operations management, supply chain logistics, inventory control, and workforce management operate in a real-world setting.
The interactive sessions allowed students to ask detailed questions regarding operational efficiency, environmental sustainability, and corporate governance within a Maharatna enterprise.
Institutional Gratitude & Success
The Faculty of Management & Commerce expresses its sincere gratitude to the visionary leadership of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University—including Prof. (Dr.) V.K. Mittal, Honorable Vice-Chancellor, and Prof. (Dr.) Shalya Raj, Respected CEO—for their constant encouragement and guidance.
