25 years ago, in the year 1999, the Pakistani forces covertly entered the Indian Territory and took control of vital mountain outposts in Kargil’s Drass, Kaksar and Batalik Sectors in the Ladakh region. Pakistani Army did this by deceit, taking advantage of an agreement between India and Pakistan vide which both sides had agreed to vacate certain high altitude posts during winters to prevent extreme weather related casualities. The gallant soldiers of the Indian Army, with the help of Indian Air Force, overcame insurmountable odds, hostile terrain and inclement weather to win back the posts from the enemy that had occupied dominating heights.
