The lamp lighting and oath-taking ceremony is a tribute to “Florence Nightingale — the Lady with the Lamp.” This ceremony initiates students into the noble profession of Nursing. The lamp lighting signifies the firm decision of these young students to be trained to care for the sick and wounded persons. The lighting of the lamp symbolizes the transfer of knowledge, skills, and spirit of Nursing among students. The lamp lighting ceremony formally declares the student’s entry into the nursing profession.
The 21st Lamp lighting and oath-taking ceremony of BSc (N), GNM, and ANM Students was organized by Panna Dhai Maa Subharti Nursing College, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University which was held on 12th March 2022. The program was commenced by Prof. Hepsi Natha and Prof. Anandh Sam Perera, Dept. of Medical-Surgical Nursing, PDMSNC by welcoming all the dignitaries with the formal inauguration by lighting the lamp by Chief Guest Dr. Pooja ACMO of Meerut, Col. Tressa S P, Principal Matron, Military Hospital, Meerut who was the Guest of Honour, the Special Guest Dr. G K Thapliyal, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Dr. Geeta Parwanda, Principal & Dean of Panna Dhai Maa Subharti Nursing College and Prof. Hepsi Natha, Dept. of Medical-Surgical Nursing, PDMSNC with the invocation song by B.Sc (N) III Yr students.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Geeta Parwanda, Principal & Dean of Panna Dhai Maa Subharti Nursing College by welcoming the dignitaries with saplings and signifies the importance of Lamp lighting & Oath-taking ceremony which is followed by a Welcome Dance by Ms. Bharti, B.Sc (N) IV Yr student. Later the 21st Lamp lighting and oath-taking ceremony of BSc (N), GNM, and ANM Students were initiated by the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, and Special Guest by lighting the candle of Asst. Prof. Nisha. G, Dept. of MHN, Asst. Prof. Nisha Yadav, Dept. of Community Health Nursing, Asst. Prof. Manikandan, Dept. of Child Health Nursing andAsst. Lect. Laxmikanth Sharma, Dept. of Medical-Surgical Nursing, and the light was passed to all novice student nurses and the oath was delivered by respected Dr. Geeta Parwanda, Principal & Dean of Panna Dhai Maa Subharti Nursing College, and a total of 225 students rendered into the profession by taking the oath which was followed by the release of “Research Compendium” by all the dignitaries.
Further, the program was proceeded with a special performance by B.Sc (N) III Yr & IV Yr students depicting the cultural diversities of India followed by award distribution to meritorious students of B.Sc (N), GNM & ANM I Yr students who excel in the PTS examination. All the dignitaries have addressed the gathering and blessed the novice students for their future endeavors and they were presented with the shawl and memento as a token of love and respect. The programme was successfully organized by Panna Dhai Maa Subharti Nursing College under the guidance of Dr. Geeta Parwanda, Principal & Dean of Panna Dhai Maa Subharti Nursing College. The programme was ended with the vote of thanks given by Asst. Prof. Nisha. G, Dept. of MHN, PDMSNC.
