The Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Department of Home Science, Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (SVSU), Meerut, in collaboration with the Subharti Research & Incubation Centre (SRIC), organized an insightful lecture on “From Idea to Enterprise: How to Start Your Own Business” on 12th September 2026.
The programme was organized with the objective of fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among students and equipping them with practical knowledge and skills to transform innovative ideas into viable business ventures. The session covered various aspects of entrepreneurship, including idea generation, opportunity identification, business planning, creativity, innovation, market understanding, and essential entrepreneurial skills.
The distinguished resource persons, Er. K.K. Sharma and Dr. Nikhil Rathi shared their expertise and practical experiences with the students. They emphasized the importance of identifying emerging opportunities, understanding market needs, developing innovative solutions, and building the confidence required to convert ideas into sustainable enterprises.
The interactive session provided students with valuable insights into the entrepreneurial journey, from conceptualizing a business idea to developing and managing an enterprise. Students actively participated in the discussions and gained a better understanding of business opportunities, market requirements, entrepreneurial challenges, and strategies for developing successful ventures.
The programme highlighted the significance of entrepreneurship education in enhancing students’ creativity, innovation, employability, leadership, decision-making, and business management skills. It also encouraged students to view entrepreneurship as a viable career pathway and explore opportunities for self-employment, startup development, and job creation.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Nishma Singh and Ms. Shailja Durgapal, under the guidance and support of Prof. (Dr.) Jyoti Gaur, Head of the Department.
The lecture concluded with an emphasis on the importance of creating an entrepreneurial culture within higher education institutions and empowering students to become innovators, entrepreneurs, and future job creators
