The programme was conducted under the guidance and leadership of the Head of the Department, Dr. Seema Sharma. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Manisha Luthra, who sensitized students about the importance of proper waste segregation, responsible waste management, and sustainable living. The session explained the use of three coloured dustbins-green for wet waste, blue for dry waste and red for hazardous waste-and highlighted the principles of “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.”

The programme was organized with the following three objectives:

  1. To create awareness about proper waste segregation and responsible waste disposal.
  2. To promote sustainable practices such as Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
  3. To encourage students to actively participate in cleanliness and environmental initiatives.

The programme also highlighted the relevance of sustainable waste management to SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 15 (Life on Land). Students actively participated in the session and were encouraged to incorporate responsible waste-management practices into their daily lives.

The programme resulted in three major outcomes:

  • Improved understanding of waste segregation and responsible waste management practices.
  • Increased awareness of waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and responsible consumption.
  • Adoption of sustainable and cleanliness-oriented practices in participants’ daily lives.

The programme concluded with a message emphasizing collective responsibility, cleanliness, and sustainability for building a cleaner campus and a healthier community.
