Subharti Law College Celebrated
Hindi Pakhwada Jagrukta Abhiyan, 2026
Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of Law, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, under the guidance and direction of Hon’ble Justice Rajesh Chandra, Former Judge, Allahabad High Court, and Prof. (Dr.) Reena Bishnoi, Dean, Faculty of Law, organized the Hindi Pakhwada Jagrukta Abhiyan on 28 September 2026 as part of the celebration of Hindi Diwas. The awareness programme was based on the theme “Role of Indian Languages in Legal Education and the Justice System.”
The programme commenced by giving planters that symbolized growth, responsibility, and the commitment of the institution towards promoting positive social and environmental values.
The awareness session featured two distinguished speakers from the academic and legal fraternity. The first speaker, Prof. (Smt.) Alok Sharma, Professor, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, deliberated upon the importance of Hindi and its role in contemporary India. She emphasized that Hindi should not be celebrated merely on one designated day. She expressed her concern that despite Hindi being widely spoken in India, there is still a need to dedicate a particular day to its celebration. She highlighted that the language should instead be respected, used, and promoted throughout the year. Additionally, she drew attention to the significance of language and legal terminology in the administration of justice. Through a legal illustration, she explained how unfamiliarity with Hindi legal terminology can create difficulties in understanding legal provisions and judicial proceedings and may have an impact on the outcome of a case. Her deliberation highlighted the importance of precision, clarity, and accessibility in legal language.
The second speaker, Shri Charan Singh Tyagi, Advocate, Mantri, Akhil Bharatiya Adhivakta Parishad, Senior Advocate, Meerut, shared an incident from court proceedings to explain the practical relevance of language in the legal profession. He emphasized that knowledge and intellectual capability cannot be judged on the basis of any particular language. He encouraged students to develop a strong understanding of legal principles while respecting linguistic diversity and the contribution of Indian languages to legal education and advocacy.
The interaction with the speakers enabled students to understand the close relationship between language, legal education, advocacy, and access to justice. The speakers particularly emphasized that language should facilitate communication of law rather than become a barrier to understanding legal rights and remedies.
The programme concluded with a felicitation ceremony, wherein the distinguished speakers were felicitated as a mark of appreciation for their valuable contribution and insightful deliberations. The session concluded on an intellectually enriching note with the message that Hindi and other Indian languages have an important role to play in making legal education and the justice system more accessible and comprehensible to society. The session was witnessed by Prof. Dr. Prem Chandra, Dr. Sarika Tyagi, Dr. Afreen Almas, Dr. Anjum Jahan, Mr. Arshad Alam, Miss Sonal Jain, Mr. Ashutosh Deshwal, Mr. Parth Malhotra, Mr. Anurag Choudhary, Miss Mansi, Miss Shalini Goel and Mr. Harshit.
