Mental Wellness- Invigorating- A New Me!!!!

Mental health is a huge issue today and there are shockingstatistics to prove it from all over the universities of the world. So it is quintessential that we acknowledge good mental health efforts and work to overcome the barriers that keep us from addressing mental health in a positive, productive way. Maintaining a positive mental health and treating any mental health conditions is crucial to stabilize constructive behaviours, emotions, and thoughts. Focusing on mental health care Professor Dr. Tushti Sharma, Coordinator, SITE Satellite Wellness Centre conducted a workshop on Mental Wellness- Invigorating- a new me!!!! for the B.Tech students on 27th March 2023 at MMM Auditorium, SITE on suggestions and guidelines from the Central Wellness Unit of Subharti University to increase productivity amongst the students and enhance their self-image to improve relationships developing skills required in their professional journey.

During the workshop the speaker apprised the students that nurturing mental health doesn’t just improve the daily functioning, but also helps control the physical health problems directly linked to mental health conditions. Workshop initiated with a guided meditation, followed with some interesting activities to break the monotony of daily schedule through which the students were guided to consider their overall mental health so that they can best address their mental needs. For now, mental health is more important than ever before. It impacts every area of life and ripples into everything we observe and perform.

She emphasized that mental health is something that impacts our eating and sleeping habits and has a lot to do with our physical health. Today it is important to address mental health needs and enjoy the benefits of taking care of the mental health that includes:

  • Improving mood
  • Reducing anxiety
  • Creating an enhanced sense of inner peace
  • Thinking more clearly
  • Improving relationships
  • Increasing our self-esteem

 

Understandings that giving attention to diets and physical activities, and maintaining a healthy state of mind will surely help them achieve ability to cope with the different challenges of life. Workshop culminated on the note thathealthy life is an outcome of the wellness of the body and mind. And one can improve mental wellness by seeking the help of a psychotherapist or counsellors at university wellness centre.
