National Adventure Camp 2024
The Adventure Sports Institute, set up by the Government of Himachal Pradesh, was sent by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India to 100 selected NSS volunteers from five states of the country – Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra and Pondicherry to get in-depth basic information about adventure campaigns.”Out of 20 volunteers from Uttar Pradesh, six students from Subharti University were selected for this adventure camp.” At the same time, the state of Uttar Pradesh was also led in the camp by Subharti University.
Hon’bleVice Chancellor of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University Maj. Gen. (Dr.) G. K. Thapliyal has congratulated all the NSS volunteers involved in the adventure camp and hoped that the students will live up to the bold challenges of the future. Chief Executive Officer of the University Prof. (Dr.) Shalya Raj also wished all the volunteers involved in the adventure camp all the best for the future.
Uttar Pradesh team leader and NSS in-charge of Subharti University. Prof. (Dr.) Subhash Chandra Thaledi said that this camp was very important for the volunteers of Subharti University. Nitesh Kumar Tiwari, a student of the University, was the “core leader” of the camp, while Vidya, a fourth year agriculture student of Subharti, was given “Quarter Master of the camp. She was responsible for monitoring the catering arrangements in the camp. Similarly, Anushka Solanki, a student of BA-JMC, got a chance to become the Rope leader of one of the seven ropes of the camp.
Prof. (Dr.) Thaledi said the important responsibility given to University students on their performance in the adventure camp shows their ability, best performance and interest. He said the volunteers took about a 100 km trek in 10 days of the adventure camp. Tracked to a height of more than 10 thousand feet. All this program was led by skilled trainers from Abvinas (ABVINAS) Manali. The most difficult trek was from Manali to Solang Nala and from there it was about 30 km.
Volunteers visit the “Ski Centre” of the Institute at Solang Nalla, they receive training in River Crossing and Disaster Management.
This training has boosted the morale of all NSS volunteers. Core Leader Nitesh Tiwari said it was a special privilege for him to lead 100 volunteers for 10 days in this camp and now he is ready for future adventure campaigns. Similarly, participant Vidya said she was always curious about adventure but attending an adventure camp in reality was nothing short of an adventure for her. Her morale has increased. She thanked the University for this. “A video report based on the camp was produced by BA-JMC student Harsh Bhatt, which was showcased in the concluding session.” It was appreciated by the all office bearers of the institute and volunteers of all the states. Participants Sudarshani Raturi and Amit Kumar also performed their duties.
On the last day of the adventure camp on Friday, all the volunteers and team leaders who participated in the adventure camp were given certificates and honoured with the badge of the institute. Many famous mountaineers and adventure sports lovers were present on the occasion.
