Event Report: “Patents: What, Why and How?”
The Department of Chemistry at Keral Verma Subharti College of Science, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, successfully organized an enlightening session titled “Patents: What, Why, and How?”on November 30, 2024. The event, spearheaded by Dr. Preeti Singh, Assistant Professor, aimed to deepen the understanding of intellectual property rights and their critical role in safeguarding innovations. With 39 faculty members and M.Sc. students in attendance, the session featured a distinguished guest speaker, Mr. Anurag Pandey, a registered Indian Patent Attorney and Principal Associate II at Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan Attorneys, New Delhi. Mr. Pandey delivered an engaging talk on the technical and legal aspects of drafting and filing patent applications, conducting patent searches, infringement analysis, and strategies for commercialization. Real-world case studies further enriched the learning experience. The event, held under the visionary guidance of Dr. Renu Mavi, Dean and Head of the Department, provided an intellectually stimulating platform for participants to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical applications, particularly in the dynamic realm of intellectual property rights.
