NATIONAL NEWBORN CARE WEEK CELEBRATIONS – 2019
On the occasion of National newborn care week celebrations, the department of Child Health Nursing, PDMSNC organized an In-service programme at CSSH and competitions at Intra College level.

Beneficiary group: Postnatal mothers, Antenatal mothers and general public
The National newborn care week programme started around 12.00 noon and it was inaugurated by the chief guest Mrs. Boby Ramesh, Assessor, NABH. The session started with the presence of Dr. Piyush Gupta, HOD Paediatrics, CSSH and Dr. Payas Joshi Asst. Professor, Mrs. Sanju Solanki, Nursing Superintendent CSSH and Dr. Geeta Parwanda, Principal PDMSNC. After the floral welcome of the guests, Dr. Piyush Gupta HOD Paediatrics had given a power point presentation on the topic “Breast feeding guidelines for mothers” which added a value for the programme. Dr. Geeta Parwanda, Principal Nursing College delivered her valuable speech regarding the importance of the programme and essential care of newborn. The M.Sc Nursing I year student Ms. Kavita had given power point presentation along with demonstration (Kangaroo Mother Care) on the topic newborn care. The sanitary napkins were also distributed to all the postnatal mothers by the guests. Approximately 40 mothers and general public got benefited by the programme.

On the 2nd day of the newborn care week celebration, a poster competition was organized and started by 11.00 AM. There were 21 posters displayed by the Nursing students from ANM 1st year, GNM 2nd year, B.Sc Nursing 3rd year and P.B.B.Sc Nursing 1st year and it was evaluated by Dr. Payas Joshi, Asst. Professor CSSH and Mrs. Sanju Solanki, Nursing Superintendent CSSH. After the evaluation, the posters were displayed for the postnatal mothers and nearly 20 people were benefited.

A quiz competition was conducted based on the theme by the M.Sc Nursing students and it was judged by Prof. Shalin S, H.O.D Child Health Nursing and Mr. K.K. Parashar, Asst. Professor PDMSNC. 4 mixed group of ANM I year, GNM II year, B.Sc III year students were participated with great interest.
