The Department of Library and Information Science, Swami Vivekananda Subharti University, Meerut, organised a Cooking Competition on February, 26th 2026 with the primary objective of fostering innovation, creativity, and cooperative engagement among students. The event further aimed to promote awareness regarding healthy dietary practices and nutritional well-being as integral components of student life. Additionally, the competition was designed to provide a platform for students to demonstrate practical skills beyond the academic curriculum, thereby encouraging a holistic approach to personal and professional development.
The competition was held under the auspices of the Department of Library and Information Science, with active participation from students. Participants exhibited commendable culinary creativity by preparing a diverse range of nutritious and flavourful dishes, thereby reflecting their engagement with the theme of healthy living. The evaluation panel assessed each entry on the basis of taste, aesthetic presentation, and nutritional value. The judging criteria were structured to ensure a comprehensive and objective assessment of each participant’s contribution.
The event was presided over by Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences who in his address emphasised the significance of such competitions in cultivating student creativity and providing an experiential learning environment. He noted that extracurricular activities of this nature serve as invaluable opportunities for students to develop life skills, collaborative thinking, and self-expression. The event was attended by all departmental faculty members, including Dr. Javed Khan, Dr. Sapna Sharma, Dr. Alpana, Dr. Durvesh Pundir, and Mrs. Bhavna, as well as all supporting staff, who extended their full cooperation in ensuring the successful conduct of the programme.
