The Department of Languages, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, organized a guest lecture on “Patent and Scopus Publications for Strengthening Research and Innovation” by Dr. Amrita Chaudhary on 12 March 2026. The session was conducted in the HR Lab of the Department of Languages and was attended by faculty members, research scholars, and students interested in academic research and publication.

The lecture aimed to highlight the importance of quality education and research innovation in contemporary academia with an understanding of SDG4: Quality Education, SDG 9: Industry and Innovation and SDG 17: Collaborative Practices. It emphasized the need for scholars and teachers to actively engage in high-quality research publications and intellectual property development, which contribute to the global visibility and academic reputation of educational institutions.

Objectives of the Event

The lecture was organized with the following objectives:

  1. To promote awareness of Sustainable Development Goals and its significance in research.
  2. To encourage faculty members and scholars to publish research in Scopus-indexed journals and other internationally recognized academic platforms.
  3. To introduce participants to the concept of patents and intellectual property rights, highlighting their role in research innovation.

Summary of the Session

The program commenced with a formal introduction of the topic and the significance of research publications and innovation in academia. Participants were welcomed and briefed about the relevance of quality education and research output in achieving sustainable development goals. The speaker was welcomed by the department with a planter presentation ceremony. The lecture saw wide participation from teachers HOD Dr. Seema Sharma, Dr. Rafat Khanam, Dr. Manisha Luthra, Dr. Ashish Kumar, Dr. Nishi Raghav, Dr. Preeti Sharma, Ms. Sanya Agrawal, Ms. Soni Chauhan and Ms. Bhavna Joshi as well as students from the B.A, M.A and PhD scholars.

The lecture proved to be highly informative and beneficial for the participants. It successfully created awareness about the importance of research publications, patent development, and innovation in higher education. The event contributed to strengthening the department’s commitment to quality education, research excellence, and global academic engagement, aligning with the vision of Sustainable Development Goal 4.
