Successful Organization of Quiz Competition by

Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences

Quiz Competition was organized by the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University Meerut on the occasion of International Women’s Week- 2025.  Students from various departments of the university enthusiastically participated in the competition.

The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Prof. (Dr.) Sudhir Tyagi, Dean, Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences along with committee members. The programme was started by the speech of Dean, Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences Prof. (Dr.) Sudhir Tyagi, he said that International Women’s Day is a significant occasion that celebrates the achievements of women across various fields while advocating for gender equality. It serves as a reminder of the social, economic, cultural, and political contributions of women worldwide. This day also raises awareness about the challenges women continue to face, including discrimination, unequal opportunities, and gender-based violence. By highlighting these issues, International Women’s Day encourages collective efforts toward empowering women, ensuring fair wages, and promoting leadership opportunities. It is a time for governments, organizations, and individuals to come together in support of women’s rights and inclusivity. Celebrating this day not only recognizes women’s resilience and strength but also inspires future generations to challenge stereotypes and work toward a more equitable society.

The quiz competition consisted of three rounds, with students actively engaging in each round. All the questions in the competition were centered on renowned women from across the world. The third round specifically focused on distinguished women after whom university buildings or roads have been named.

During the event, students, Kainat, Harpreet Kaur, Varsha Raj, and Poonam and faculty members, Dr. Nishi, Dr. Urvashi has expressed their thoughts through poetry and speeches.  Program coordinator Dr. Amrita Chaudhary stated that the event was dedicated to those women who have paved the way for others, inspiring and guiding them towards success.

In the competition, Manisha Kumari, BAJMC second-year student, secured the first position, the second place was secured by Prakriti from the Law College, while Huzaifa Rizvi from the Department of Liberal Arts and Humanities secured the third position. The event was hosted by Dr. Preeti Singh very gracefully. Dr. Sapna, Dr. Alpana, Dr. Ruby, Dr. Shruti Pokhriyal, Dr. Nishi, Dr. Ashish and Mrs. Shelly, Rajeshwar Singh and Dr. Rafat Khanam have contributed for the successful execution of the event.
