Col. (Dr.) Naresh Kumar Goyal, a research scholar in the Faculty of Social Sciences at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, has successfully completed his doctoral research entitled “Rag Pickers in Urban Slums: A Sociological Study in Meerut.”
Ms. Shewli Hira has also completed her PhD research on “Impact of Digital Literacy on Women-Owned Very Small Businesses in West Bengal: A Sociological Study.”
Both scholars pursued their research under the esteemed supervision of Professor Dr. Sartaj Ahmad. The evaluation of their PhD theses was conducted by Professor (Dr.) Alok Kumar from Chaudhary Charan Singh University. Upon successful completion of all prescribed academic requirements and verification procedures, both candidates were declared eligible for the award of the PhD degree in Sociology.
The occasion was graced by the presence of distinguished academicians and administrators, including Dr. Sudhir Kumar Tyagi, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences; Dr. Taraknath Prasad, Head, Department of Liberal Arts and Humanities; Dr. Manoj Kumar Tripathi; Dr. Prabhat Kumar; Dr. Javed Khan; along with faculty members and research scholars from various disciplines.
Col. (Dr.) Naresh Kumar Goyal and Ms. Shewli Hira will be formally conferred the PhD (Sociology) degree by His Excellency Acharya Devvrat Ji, Hon’ble Governor of Gujarat, during the Convocation Ceremony scheduled to be held on 26 April 2026 at Meerut.
