Seminar on ‘Upholding the Spirit of Indian Constitution’
Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of Law, on the occasion of Constitution Day which is also known as Samvidhan Diwas organized the series of activities.Under the Leadership of Dean Faculty of Law, Prof. (Dr.) Vaibhav Goel Bhartiya an awareness and Sensitization Program was Organized by Law Club, Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of Law. And for the celebration of the same, the series of activities in the form of Preamble recitation Quiz, Essay writing, Poster making, and seminar was organized. Quiz was organized by Subharti Law College in coordination with Faculty of Arts and Social science in which Ms. Prakrati hold 1st position, Mr. Atul Kaushik got 2nd position and Shivangi Kumari got 3rd position. Further Essay writing competition was coordinated by the Subharti Institute of Technology and Engineering and Faculty of Science. Where total 174 students participated and Ms. Mitali Saini got 1st position, Mr. Gaurav Rai got 2nd Position and 3 positions secured by Bikrant Kumar and Aishwarya Chaurasia. In the continuation of the same Poster making competition was organized by Faculty of Management and commerce on the topic “upholding the spirit of the Indian Constitution”. In the event Mr. Aman secured first position, second position secured by Ms Esha Ansari and Mr. Gautam Kumar, Mr. Chirag and Ms. Vanshika secured 3rd position.After all these on the occasion of Constitution Day, Program of Preamble recitation and Seminar was organized by Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of Law to aware and sensitize the public about the Importance of Constitution on the topic “upholding the spirit of the Indian Constitution”. This seminar was organized by the Faculty of Law in association with District Legal Service Authority Meerut. Program was started by welcoming all the Participants present in the Auditorium. After that the Hon’ble Guests were invited to the Dias. The master of ceremony, Ms. Zoya welcomed the guest by offering a good luck plant to the guest of the Program. Thereafter guests were invited for the lamp lighting ceremony.
After that formal welcome of the dignitaries was done by Ms. Afreen Almas, Assistant Professor Subharti Institute of Law. After that to appreciate the hard-work of our Constitution makers into drafting such an intricate document.” The preamble is the heart and soul of our Constitution.” To reinforce the commitment to its noble principles Preamble recitation was done by Ms. Kasak and Ankita of B.A.LLB.2nd year. The opening speech was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Reena Bishnoi, Professor, Faculty of Law & Chairperson, ICC, SVSU, Meerut. She was welcomed to the Hon’ble Dignitaries of the seminar and briefed about the theme of the seminar. She said that today we gathered here on a historic and significant occasion of Constitution Day, Observed annually on the 26th day of November. During her opening speech, she highlighted the objectives of celebrating and organizing the program and also told about the values enshrined by our Constitution makers. After that Ms. Kashish Agarwal, Additional Civil Judge, district court Meerut said that everybody knows that India got independence on 15 August but in true meaning we got independence, when we enforced our own constitution and became republic, because on this day we got authority through constitution to run our country by our own supreme law. After that Mr. Praveen Additional Civil Judge, district court Meerut said that the Constitution enshrines such values and gives rights to even those who do not believe in that. He said that this constitution provides us various rights, which provide every citizen to live his life in a dignified manner. After that Sh. Uday Veer Singh, secretary DLSA, Chief Guest of the program said that he is very fortunate that he has an opportunity to attend such an important program related to the constitution. He said that the Legal Aid Cell of Swami Vivekananda is organizing such a program to sensitize and aware to the public and it is the duty of all of us that we should sensitize further about the values of the Constitution to the public at large. He further said that we adopted many provisions from the different countries to make our Constitution up to the mark and this is the reason that many countries changed their constitution but we are still running the same constitution only with certain amendments. It was written by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and other great leaders. The Constitution teaches us to live with justice, liberty, and equality. It also gives us important rights like the right to education and freedom. Let us remember the hard work of our leaders and promise to follow the rules to make India a happy and united country. So that values and respect of our Constitution shall be intact in a true sense.
After that Prof. (Dr.) Amar Prakash Garg, Director Research, Applied Sciences, SVSU & Former Vice-Chancellor, Shobhit Institute of Engineering & Technology,(Deemed-to-be-University) delivered his speech. He pointed out that the Britishers made rules to rule us not for the purpose of rule of law and after enforcement of our Constitution it gives democratic setup and intact the rule of Law, further we should pledge to educate the society. Gen (Dr.) G K Thapliyal, SM (Retd.), SVSU addressed to all and said that Our Constitution is more than just a legal document; it’s a social contract that binds us together as a nation. It guarantees fundamental rights like freedom of speech, religion, and equality, ensuring that every citizen, irrespective of caste, creed, or gender, is treated with dignity and respect. It’s not just about rights, but also about responsibilities. As citizens, we must uphold the values enshrined in our Constitution. We must strive for justice, liberty, and equality in our daily lives. In the last, the program was ended with the formal vote of thank by Prof. (Dr.) Vaibhav Goel Bhartiya, Dean Faculty of Law , he said that The Indian Constitution is the longest written constitution in the world, consisting of a Preamble, articles, schedules, and several amendments. It is a unique blend of flexibility and rigidity, allowing it to adapt to the changing needs of society while maintaining its core principles. The Preamble to our Constitution is a statement of its objectives. It begins with the words “We, the people of India,” emphasizing that the power to govern lies in the hands of the people. Our University works with the motto of Shiksha, Seva, Sanskar and Rashtriyata, it is our responsibility to maintain the spirit of the Constitution.
