Sensitization and Awareness Program – World Breastfeeding Week

As we all are well aware that World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated every year from 1-7 August. This year Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Department of Home Science, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University Meerut took a step forward to celebrate this initiative with women of Village Mehrauli, Meerut, and planned a sensitization and awareness visit to Village Mehrauli on August 7, 2023. This visit was intended to coincide with the observance of World Breastfeeding Week, a global initiative that aligns seamlessly with our institution’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

To this end, students have prepared special nutrient-rich laddo incorporating bajra millet and other galactagogues which have been successfully distributed among lactating mothers of Village Mehrauli, promoting both adequate nutrition and overall maternal health.

For this purpose, all the women were gathered over Ucch Prathmik Vidhyalaya, Mehrauli with the cooperation of Mr. Rishi Pal (Principal, UPV Mehrauli). Ms. Urvashi Sharma (Assistant Professor) sensitized lactating women about the benefits of breastfeeding for babies and mothers and Ms. Virender Pal Kaur (Assistant Professor)gave them a recipe for nutritious laddoos for the fulfillment of the UN Sustainable Development Goals specifically focusing on Zero Hunger(as laddoo will improve nutrition), and Good Health and Wellbeing.
