Skill Laboratory Activity on Spectrophotometer
A Skill Laboratory Activityon ‘Spectrophotometer’ at Keral Verma Subharti College of Science, Swami Vivekananda Subharti University, Meerut was successfully completed today. This laboratory activity was started from 31st May to 6th June 2023 under the direction of Prof. RenuMavi, Dean, College of Science. The purpose of this activity was to make students and teachers aware of about the use of spectrophotometer in various fields of life science and its functioning. The students and teachers of the Department of Chemistry, Zoology, Botany and Biotechnologywere participated in this lab activity series enthusiastically. Program coordinator Dr. Devendra Kumar, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Dr. Dheer Pal Singh and Dr. Adesh Kumar collectively introduced the students to the working of spectrophotometer and its uses in various fields of science in simple language.
The program activity explained that spectrophotometer is a feature-loaded scientific instrument that typically operates with wavelengths of 200–800 nm. It is characterized by displaying clear and definite results, quantification of quality traits, maintaining color fastness and incredibly accurate measurement and a fast operation.
All the students also learned practically how to operate this instrument carefully and how to analyze liquids on it. At the end of the activity, coordinators thanked all the teaching and non-teaching staff involved.
The students expressed interest in organizing similar knowledge-enhancing laboratory activities in future too.
