Youth expressed their views on electoral literacy during speech competition.
Youth should participate enthusiastically in the festival of democracy – Speakers
Students made voters aware about more participation in voting through essay writing.
(Meerut, Manisha Kumari BAJMC) Speech competition and essay writing competition were organized by Electoral Literacy Club of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University under Voter Awareness Campaign. In the speech competition organized on the topic “Role of Voters in Democracy”, the participants expressed their views on the important role of voters in the general elections. The speakers called upon the young voters to participate enthusiastically in this great festival of democracy. Also enumerating the nuances of democracy, they said that every vote has its own utility in democracy. More than two dozen students of the university participated in this competition. The participants of the Journalism and Mass Communication Department won various places in this competition. BAJMC student Varsha Raj stood first while MBBS student Yogita Rani stood second. Whereas Nitesh Kumar Tiwari and Prajjwal Pandey, students of BAJMC, jointly captured the third position. In this series, the jury selected Liberal Arts student Shrey Attri and BAJMC’s Anand Kumar for the encouragement award.
The role of judge in this program was played by the editor of Saptahik Prabhat, Prof. Ashok Tyagi, Dr. Manoj Kumar Tripathi and Dr. Neeraj Dhaka.
The program was coordinated by Electoral Literacy Club President Anushka Badli, Vice President Manisha Kumari and Devotkarsh Sagar student representative from Subharti medical college.
On this occasion, Chief Patron of the club Prof. (Dr.) S. C. Thaledi said that all these activities of the Electoral Literacy Club are to attract the youth towards voting and other processes related to it. He officially called upon the students to participate in the voter’s awareness program.
Assistant Professor of Journalism and Mass Communication Department Ram Prakash Tiwari provided the technical assistance in the program. During this, many students from different colleges of the university were present.
Earlier, an essay competition was also organized on the topic “Elections and the role of the elector in democracy”. In which Bhavna Tyagi of Subharti Nursing College and Varnika of Paramedical college jointly got the first position. Whereas Aashi of B.Sc Nursing and Prakriti of BALLB got second position with equal marks. Ashok Bharti, a B.Sc. Paramedical student, and Shubhangi Singh, a B.A.L.L.B. student, stood third. Shruti Jha, Prajjwal Pandey and Nitesh Kumar Tiwari were selected by the judges as encouragement prizes. In this competition, Dr. Neeraj Dhaka and Prof. Ashok Tyagi played the role of judge.
On this occasion, coordinator of the essay competition, paramedical student Aditi Singh, student representative of the medical college, Devotkarsh Sagar were prominently present.
