A symposium on “Hindi’s New Flight in the Digital Age”, organised on the occasion of Hindi Diwas, was held at the Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Subharti Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University. The symposium focused on the theme “From Tradition to Technology: The Expanding Horizons of Hindi.” . The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Santosh Kumar Gautam, who welcomed the distinguished speaker, faculty members and students. He highlighted the growing significance of Hindi in the digital ecosystem and emphasised the opportunities offered by new media, digital journalism and emerging communication technologies for the expansion of the language.
Professor Ritesh Chaudhary, Head of the Department, also addressed the gathering. He emphasized the importance of strengthening Hindi in contemporary communication and encouraged students to develop both linguistic competence and technological skills. He observed that the digital revolution has created new platforms for Hindi and has significantly expanded its reach among younger audiences.
The keynote session was delivered by Dr. Sadhana Srivastava, an eminent educationist, media personality and writer. She spoke on the changing dimensions of Hindi in the digital era and discussed the growing use of Hindi across digital media, social networking platforms and contemporary communication spaces. Her address provided students with insights into the evolving relationship between language, media and technology.
An interactive session was also organised as part of the seminar. Students actively participated in the discussion and raised questions related to Hindi in digital journalism, media communication, technology and the future of Hindi. The interaction made the programme engaging and informative for the students.
Dr. Preeti Singh served as the Coordinator of the programme, while Dr. Ashutosh Verma was the Co-Coordinator. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Ram Prakash, who expressed gratitude to the speaker, university authorities, department faculty members and students for their participation and support.
The seminar successfully provided an academic platform to deliberate upon the expanding role of Hindi in the rapidly transforming digital landscape.
