As Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut is highly dedicated to UN Sustainable Development Goals, On 21 September 2023 ,Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Department of Home Science put an effort to sensitize students about the Importance of menstrual health and hygiene. We aligned with Goal No. 3 and Goal No. 6 and conducted an Awareness session for students of NBSCFF on manufacturing of easily accessible Sanitary napkins for underprivileged populations and made them aware of the same under Janaky Athi Nahappan Incubation Centre.This was a collaborative effort of the Home Science Department and Setu (registered NGO with Govt. of India ) led by Ms. Poonam Tyagi. To begin with, Ms. Virender Pal Kaur informed students about the current state of Menstrual health and hygiene, especially in underprivileged areas, and encouraged students to work in this direction to bust the taboo related to menstruation to create better acceptability among people about the issue.Later Ms. Urvashi Sharma taught students how to manufacture a sanitary pad and informed them about the material used in its preparation.

The students felt motivated and encouraged to discuss the issue and work on this perspective.

The Training session was successfully conducted under the guidance of Dr Nishma Singh, Head of the Department of Home Science, and cooperation of teaching and non-teaching staff.
