At the occasion of World AIDS Day, Thursday,1December, Department of Community Medicine Subharti Medical College Meerut organised an AIDS awareness program at Mahaveer Jain Girls Inter College, Jain Nagar Meerut.
Prof.(Dr) Varsha Chaudhary delivered a talk on causes, symptoms and prevention of AIDS.
She told that HIV/AIDS spread through used syringes, unprotected sex, contact with infected blood,semen or vaginal fluids.
Prof.(Dr) Sartaj Ahmad told about the importance of World AIDS day. He said that this year, the theme for world AIDS day is “Rock the Ribbon” . The National AIDS trust is committed to stopping new cases of HIV, and fighting HIV stigma and discrimination.
A “Nukkad natak” was performed by Interns.
Another program was conducted at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Urban Health and training center Multan Nagar Meerut.
Prof. & Head Dr Bhawana Pant suggested that there is no cure for HIV/AIDS, but there is an urgent need for an awareness program in the community. Prof. Dr Monika Gupta, Dr Dharmendra Singh and Dr Babita were also present on the occasion.
In this series, another AIDS awareness program was organised at Shree Sanskrit Inter college village Aitmadpur, Khazoori, Block Kila Parikshit garh . The talk was delivered by Prof. Dr. Anuradha Davey. She talked about HIV/AIDS and the importance of awareness programs.
A Fantastic contribution was done by Mr. Virender Kumar, Ms Shalu, Mr Mohd Farhat, Mr Mashrul Ahmad school staff and staff of health centers.
