World Book day and Copyright day
Department of Library & Information Science, SVSU Celebrated 

OBJECTIVE OF THE Programme: The objective of this program was to develop interest for books, reading culture and to promote creativity among students.

Department of Library & Information Science, SVSU organized a program on dated 23 April 2025 on the occasion of  ‘World Book Day and Copyright Day’. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, Dean of Arts and Social Sciences, by lighting the lamp and delivering a welcome address. In his address, he said that books determine the direction of our lives. They are not only a source of knowledge but also a carrier of social and cultural consciousness. Books are the most valuable heritage of human civilization. They not only impart knowledge but also shape life values ​​and sensibilities. Various activities were also organized on this occasion including “Reading Session” in which students, teachers, and library staff read their favorite poems and articles, as well as “Book Exchange Corner” where students shared their books with each other. Along with this, a program was also organized on “Copyright Day”.

On this occasion, Dr. Sudhir Tyagi said that copyright also guarantees the protection of creative work; it not only protects the rights of the authors but also encourages innovation. He also discussed the challenges of copyright violations in the digital age and the measures to avoid it and told that in this way copyright law provides legal protection to creative works. On this occasion, “Student Discussion” increased the awareness of the subjects among the participants. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sapna Sharma in which she thanked all the participants and guests. On this occasion, Dr. Sapna Sharma, Mr. Ashutosh, Mr. Vikas Gautam, Mrs. Rajni, Mrs. Gomti, Dev, Ashu, Deepika, Kavita and all the students and staff of the department were present. Everyone gave their full cooperation in making the program successful.
