World Kidney Day (WKD), a joint initiative of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations – World Kidney Alliance (IFKF-WKA), is a global campaign that aims to raise awareness of the importance of our kidneys to overall health and to reduce the frequency and impact of kidney disease and its associated health problems. Every year, hundreds of organizations and individuals launch initiatives and events on WKD to help raise awareness of kidney disease. Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Department of Home Science celebrated this day with full enthusiasm on 14th March 24. The event commenced with an introductory speech about the importance of the day and how it came into being. Later the students were sensitized about kidney problems, their causes, symptoms and preventions through an animated documentary on Chronic Kidney Disease using Smart Board, Projector and Speakers.
The event was concluded by suggesting students get frequent checkups done for self and others.
The program was successfully conducted by Ms. Urvashi Sharma under the guidance of HOD Dr. Nishma Singh and with the effective effort of Ms. Virender Pal Kaur.
