World Kindness Day is an International Observance on13 November. It was introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement, a coalition of nations’ kindness NGOs. Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Department of Home Science,Swami Vivekanand Subharti University celebrated World Kindness Day. Dr Shruti Pokhriyal (Assistant Professor), along with other faculty members, engaged students in a vibrant discussion on the meaning and value of kindness. The students were encouraged to express their views and share incidents relating to what it meant for them to be kind and how people can be kind to each other. Students associated words like “love,” and being “helpful” with kindness. They highlighted how kindness can reflect both in one’s words and actions. Also, it was emphasized that kindness doesn’t require many resources. It can be easily and simply conveyed through small gestures like listening to someone’s problems or sharing our food. One of the faculty members present in the discussion pointed to the need to not take undue advantage of someone’s kindness.
