On International Music Day, the Stage Arts Department of Subharti University Resonates with Melodic Performances
On the occasion of International Music Day, celebrated across the globe, the Stage Arts Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Subharti University organized a cultural program. The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Bhavna Grover, the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Professor Dr. Pintu Mishra, and other faculty members.
On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Indresh Mishra gave a musical performance. He presented a thumri in Raag Gaawati and a chhota khayal and drutlaya composition in Raag Miyan Ki Malhar. Another Associate Professor, Dr. Deepak Singh, delivered an impressive performance in Raag Madhuwanti with the madhya laya composition “Unse Mori Lagan Laagi Re” and in Raag Pahadi with the dadra “Ab To Aao Sajna.”
At the conclusion of the program, the Head of the Stage Arts Department, Professor Dr. Bhavna Grover, extended her gratitude to the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, all present faculty members, and the students. She stated that International Music Day is not just a celebration of Western music, but also a day to honor the global recognition of our traditional Indian music. She emphasized that bhajans and ragas symbolize peace and nature.
The instrumental accompaniment for the performances included Fardeen Hussain on tabla and Miraj Khan on harmonium. All faculty members—Dr. Shweta Chaudhary, Nishi Chauhan, Shweta Singh, Akshay Sharma—and students of the department were present at the event.
