International Day for the preservation of Ozone layer is celebrated annually on September 16. It is observed to raise public awareness of the ozone layer’s deterioration and the need for potential remedies to keep it intact. With this note Ms Virender Pal Kaur (Assistant Professor) Shaheed Baba Deep Singh, Department of Home Science SVSU Meerut organized slogan writing activity on preservation of Ozone Layer with the aim of regulation and restriction of ozone-damaging substances. Through the slogans students spread awareness about how crucial the ozone shield is for the life on Earth, its gradual depletion and the need to search for possible solutions to preserve it.
The students took part in a slogan writing activity, highlighting the need of the ozone layer protection. The students were advised to use environment-friendly cleaning products, prohibit the use of nitrous oxide, buying air conditioning and refrigeration equipment that do not use HCFCs as refrigerant.
They were also advised to discourage the use of private vehicles and use public transport, carpool or bicycle.
The students were informed about the stratospheric layer which shields the Earth from Sun’s ultraviolet rays.
The whole activity accomplished by students under the guidance of all faculty members of Department of Home Science.
