Department of Physical Education Celebrates 12th International Day of Yoga through Week-Long Yoga Mahotsav

Meerut, June 21, 2026: The Department of Physical Education, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University Meerut, successfully organized a week-long Yoga Mahotsav from June 16 to June 21, 2026 in observance of the 12th International Day of Yoga. The initiative was undertaken to promote awareness about the significance of yoga and its role in maintaining physical fitness, mental well-being and emotional balance among students, faculty members, and staff.

The Yoga Mahotsav featured a variety of activities, including daily yoga practice sessions, pranayama, meditation and awareness programmes aimed at encouraging participants to adopt yoga as an integral part of their daily routine. The week-long celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the university community reflecting a growing commitment toward health, wellness, and holistic development.

The programme culminated on June 21, 2026, with a special yoga session organized to mark the International Day of Yoga. Participants performed various yogic practices under expert guidance and reaffirmed their commitment to leading healthy and disciplined lives through the principles of yoga. The event highlighted the importance of yoga in reducing stress, enhancing concentration, improving physical health, and fostering overall well-being.

The Department of Physical Education expresses its sincere gratitude to Prof. (Dr.) Shalya Raj, Chief Executive Officer, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University Meerut, and Prof. (Dr.) Pramod Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, for their continuous encouragement, guidance and support. Their vision and commitment toward promoting health-oriented educational initiatives played an important role in the successful organization of the Yoga Mahotsav.

The entire programme was conducted under the able leadership of Dr. Manju Adhikari, Head of the Department of Physical Education. Her constant motivation, supervision and dedicated efforts ensured the effective planning and smooth execution of all activities throughout the week. The Department acknowledges her valuable contribution in making the Yoga Mahotsav a meaningful and successful event.

The Department also appreciates the dedicated services rendered by Dr. Praveen, Dr. Deepak Raghav, Dr. Atul Tiwari, Dr. Ankit Singh Jadon Dr. Nishant, Mr. Subham Rathi Mr. Sharad Panwar, Ms. Deepanshu Choudhary, Mr. Sanjith T.K., and Mr. Mohammad Sartaj. Through their coordinated efforts, commitment and efficient management of responsibilities, all activities were conducted successfully and in an organized manner.

The successful completion of the Yoga Mahotsav reflects the Department’s continued commitment to promoting a culture of health, fitness, and well-being within the university. The event provided an opportunity for participants to experience the benefits of yoga while strengthening awareness about its relevance in modern life.
