On the occasion of the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026, Maharishi Aurobindo Subharti College & Hospital of Naturopathy & Yogic Sciences (MASCHNYS), Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, organized a Workshop on Yoga on the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” at Bhikaji Cama Subharti College of Hotel Management.

The workshop was conducted by Dr. Niraj Nayan Rishi, Associate Professor, MASCHNYS, who delivered an informative and interactive session focusing on the importance of yoga in enhancing overall health and well-being, especially during the ageing process. He explained how regular yoga practice helps improve physical strength, flexibility, balance, posture, and mental health, thereby contributing to a healthier and more active lifestyle. Dr. Rishi also highlighted the role of yoga in reducing stress, improving concentration, and preventing lifestyle-related disorders.

As part of the practical session, participants were guided through Chair Surya Namaskar, a modified form of the traditional Surya Namaskar suitable for individuals of all age groups. The session also included various breathing techniques (Pranayama) and AUM Kara Chanting, which help in enhancing respiratory efficiency, promoting mental relaxation, and creating a sense of inner peace. The participants actively engaged in the demonstrations and gained hands-on experience of simple yogic practices that can be easily incorporated into daily life.

The workshop served as an effective platform for spreading awareness about the benefits of yoga and encouraging individuals to adopt healthy habits for graceful and healthy ageing. The interactive nature of the program allowed participants to clarify their doubts and better understand the scientific and therapeutic aspects of yoga.

A total of 19 participants attended the workshop and benefitted from the valuable knowledge and practical guidance provided during the session. The program concluded with a message emphasizing the importance of integrating yoga into everyday life to achieve physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
