Zero Budget Organic Farm Visit

A zero budget organic farm visit was organised by the department of community Medicine Subharti Medical College Meerut. Dr. Rahul Bansal, Dr. Varsha Chaudhary Professor of Dept of Community Medicine, Interns , students  of MBBS 2023 and  Mr Satish Kumar have visited the zero budget organic farm. The farm spans 70 acres and follows natural and organic farming principles, minimizing human intervention and avoiding synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. Different sections of the farm were dedicated to various crops and organic composting.
The farm uses organic compost, cow dung, and natural fertilizers to improve soil fertility. Multi-cropping, Crop rotation and mulching help maintain nutrient balance and prevent soil degradation. Instead of chemical pesticides, the farm uses natural pest repellents such as neem oil, fermented buttermilk, and garlic-ginger sprays. Cows contribute to the farm’s ecosystem by providing organic manure for soil enrichment. Cow dung & urine is used in the preparation of Jeevamrut, a powerful natural fertilizer.
A variety of crops, including Black and Yellow Mustard, Pulses, Rice are cultivated.
After the insightful farm tour, we were served a nutritious meal of Khichdi made from millets and moong dal, highlighting the importance of traditional grains in a healthy diet. The meal was simple yet delicious, reinforcing the value of organic food.
