Report – 08th Sardar Patel Subharti Moot Court Competition-2023
Focused Area:- The main focused area of Moot Court Competition was – Executive power exercised by the President in granting pardon and Judicial Review of Presidential power of pardon. It involves the examination of the powers and procedures related to the grant of pardons by the President of India under Article 72 of the Indian Constitution.
Participants in the competition would engage in legal arguments and analysis regarding the President’s authority to pardon or commute sentences, considering factors such as the nature of the offense, public interest, humanitarian grounds, and miscarriage of justice. They would explore various aspects, including the scope of the President’s discretion, the role of judicial review, and the implications of exercising the power of pardon.
The competition would provide an opportunity for students to delve into constitutional law, criminal justice, human rights, and the balance between executive clemency and the principles of justice.
Description:- The Moot Court Association of 2022-2023 organized the 8th Sardar Patel Subharti Moot Court Competition. It was held on 25th & 26th February 2023. This time there were two students constituting a team. 50studentsfromthecollege registered and 46 participated in the competition.
On 25th April 2023
- Inauguration ceremony followed by Preliminary Rounds that were divided into two sessions took place.
- The stage management was done by Ms. Afreen Almas, Convenor (MCA)
The Judges for the Preliminary Rounds were

- In the preliminary Round, 12 teams presented their arguments from the appellant side and 12 presented from respondents. For the Semi Finals, only 4 teams out of 25 qualified as per the rules.
On 26th Feb, 2023
The Judges for the Semi-Final Round were
- Ms. Ana Sisodia (Asst. Professor)
- Mr. Ajay Raj Singh (Asst. Professor)
- In the Semi-Final Round, 2 teams presented their arguments from the appellant side and 2 presented from respondents. For the Final Round, 2 teams qualified.
The Judges for the Final Round were
1. Justice Rajesh Chandra, Former Judge, High Court of Judicature at Prayagraj
2. Dr. Reena Bishnoi, Professor, Subharti Law College
The Winner so the Competition are
- Best Team :- Bhawini Kaushalya & Usabh Jain
- Runner-Up Team :- Anushka Ahlawat & Ritu Tomar
- A team of 7 volunteers worked as Court Masters and helped throughout the Competition Court Masters/Volunteers- Navya, Prakarti, Aarti, Aayush, Zoya, Isha Tyagi & Palak Tyagi
- After the final rounds, the Valedictory Ceremony took place, where all the participants got certificates and trophies as an Appreciation Award. After the Valedictory Ceremony, Judges of the event guided how mooters can work better on their presentation. They shared some landmark cases that were involved in the Moot Problem.
- After this, Ms. Afreen Almas (Faculty Convenor of MCA) came for the vote of thanks & thanked all the participants, volunteers, respected judges and all faculty members for their support.
- At the time of Final Round and Valedictory Ceremony – 09 Faculties viewed the Competition and 18 students from all five years marked their presence for the same.
Outcome of the Activity:-
- Developed in students draft in go memorials.
- Students learn to argue on issues and to come up with supporting case laws
- Developed court mannerism.
