The Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Department of Home Science, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University organized a 15-day Training Program on “Food Processing and Preservation” from 20 February to 5 March 2026 in collaboration with the Department of Horticulture and Food Processing, Government of Uttar Pradesh. The program was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Jyoti Gaur, Head of the Department, with the objective of promoting skill development, entrepreneurship, and employability.
Resource persons Mr. Sushil Sirohi and Mr. Vinay Kumar delivered expert lectures and practical demonstrations on preparing pickles, jams, jellies, murabbas, and squashes. Participants were also trained in hygienic food handling, packaging, labelling, storage, and cost calculation. The smooth execution of the training demonstrated the department’s commitment to skill development, innovation, and industry-academia collaboration.
Students, teachers, and non-teaching staff actively participated in the training and gained valuable hands-on experience. The program also highlighted government support schemes for establishing small-scale food processing units.
The program was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Nishma Singh. All faculty members of the department were present throughout the program, showing their active involvement and support.
