9th Subharti and Unmukt Bharat National Debate Competition -2024 (Virtual Mode)
Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of law and Unmukt Bharat in association with Literary Club jointly organized its 9th Subharti and Unmukt Bharat National Debate Competition, 2024.The Debate was organized under the patronage of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) G.K Thapliyal (Retd. Major General).
In 2014, the founder of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, who is also the founder of Unmukt Bharat, Dr. Atul Krishna Sir envisioned that every year a debate competition shall be organized at degree level on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. His vision was most respectfully and cordially received by the entire Faculty of Law and since then there has been no turning back. Earlier it was conducted for the people belonging to the law fraternity but like previous year, this year students of different streams participated with great zeal and non- law students also showed great interest in this debate.
The Literary Club is working with an aim to inculcate among students a flair for the language and enhance their literary skills also to induce reading habits in students. To encourage students to become orators and display their intellectual, independent thinking skills and imbibe a sense of confidence. To develop the communication skills and confidence various activities are planned throughout the year like Debates, Elocution, speeches, storytelling, talk shows, seminar, quiz, symposium, dialogue conversation etc.
Participation:-66 participants from 33 colleges representing almost 13 UTs/States across the country were registered, respectively.

Judges:- The judges on 13th April were-Ms. Anshu Tyagi, Lokpal, Meerut Division and Dr. Usha Sahani, Assistant Professor, SPM govt. girls’ college, Meerut & Ms. Nitin Dhillon, Member, District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission.
Results Announcement:- On 15th April the report of the two days event was presented by Miss Ana Sisodia, Faculty Coordinator, Literary Club & one of the conveners of National Debate. Thereafter, Director Subharti Law College, Justice Rajesh Chandra, also showered his blessings on the participants. Hon’ble Pro Vice-Chancellor Sir, Prof. Dr. Abhay Shankargowda, addressed the virtual audience with his valuable words and wished them a tremendous amount of success for their future endeavors. Next, the much-awaited results were announced by Ms. Ana Sisodia followed by a vote of thanks given by Ifrah Siddiqui.

Key Highlights:- All the participants presented their views and arguments very well. Some of the students contented that the slogan of defection politics originated in Haryana Aaya Ram, Gaya Ram and with the meaning of defection. The students argued for both against and for the motion in which the Anti- defection law was highlighted. Defection politics legitimacy should be questioned on the ground of accountability of the elected representatives. The Debate Competition was attended by all the faculty members and students along with various participants across the Country.
