National Sports Day was organized in Swami Vivekanand Subharti University under the joint aegis of the Department of Physical Education and University Sports Committee under the campaign of the Government of India in “Ek Ghanta Khel Ke Maidan”. Along with this, the organization of Spandan 2025 sports competitions was also started in the university. Since the year 2012, 29th August has been celebrated as National Sports Day every year. In fact, on this day legendary player Major Dhyan Chand ji was born. Major Dhyan Chand ji is called the magician of hockey. In memory of Major Dhyan Chand ji, Fit India Run 2 km marathon was organized at the General Mohan Singh Playground of the University by showing a green flag by the Vice Chancellor of the University. Along with this, the hockey match in memory of Major Dhyan Chand ji was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. Shalya Raj Chief Executive Officer and University Vice Chancellor Professor Pramod Kumar Sharma ji by scoring a goal. Before the start of the match, the Chief Guest wished all the players and inspired all the players to play with sportsmanship. During the Fit India Run and Hockey Match, Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Pramod Kumar Sharma and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Shalya Raj and Chairman of the University Sports Committee Lieutenant Professor Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Dean of all the colleges of the University, all the members of the University Sports Committee and all the teachers of the Physical Education Department were present and they made all the players aware of National Sports Day and the ideology and talents of Major Dhyan Chand ji. On the occasion of National Sports Day, a hockey match was also organized between the students of Law College, Polytechnic College, Physical Education and Faculty Members, all the teachers of the Physical Education Department and teachers of Fine Arts College. Both the teams performed well in this match. A lot of enthusiasm was seen among the students and teachers regarding this event and they resolved to participate enthusiastically in such events in future as well. On this occasion, Secretary of the University Sports Committee Dr. Praveen Kumar along with the members of the University Sports Committee were present. At the end of the program, Dr. Atul Tiwari thanked all the participants and all the Deans, Media Incharge and all the non-teaching staff.
