In a major boost to public health initiatives in Uttar Pradesh, the Maharishi Aurobindo Subharti College & Hospital of Naturopathy & Yogic Sciences (MASCHNYS) successfully concluded its intensive One Week Free Yoga & Naturopathy Intervention Programme for Management of Obesity at the Subharti Naturopathy & Yoga Hospital, Meerut. The programme was organized by MASCHNYS, a constituent college of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (SVSU), in prestigious association with the Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy (CCRYN), Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. The initiative aimed to promote evidence-based, drugless management of obesity through an integrated and supervised naturopathy and yoga protocol.

The success of the seven-day intensive programme was driven by strong clinical coordination under the leadership of Dr. Suhas B, Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor at MASCHNYS, who spearheaded the planning and execution of the intervention. Recognizing the individual variability in obesity and its associated co-morbidities, the programme placed strong emphasis on personalized care. Each participant received interventions tailored to their health status, metabolic profile, and lifestyle requirements. The individualized approach included customized yoga protocols with modified asanas and pranayama according to physical capacity and cardiovascular condition; targeted naturopathy therapies such as hydrotherapy and therapeutic massage based on detoxification needs; and personalized dietetics with nutrition plans addressing metabolic gaps and lifestyle triggers.

The programme was inaugurated and academically guided by Dr. Nair Dhiren Ajit, Officiating Dean and Principal, MASCHNYS, SVSU, who emphasized the importance of an evidence-based holistic model and the scientific principle of “Return to Nature.” The initiative moved beyond general wellness practices and focused on achieving sustainable metabolic improvement through the integrated application of Yoga and Naturopathy under expert supervision. The organizing team highlighted that the objective was not merely temporary weight reduction but a comprehensive metabolic reset using natural therapeutic modalities.

The week-long intervention was structured around four core pillars: Yoga Therapy, Naturopathy Treatments, Diet and Lifestyle Counseling, and Clinical Monitoring. The yoga component incorporated dynamic asanas, pranayama, and meditation aimed at enhancing basal metabolic rate and reducing stress-induced cortisol levels. Naturopathy treatments focused on drugless detoxification methods to mobilize adipose tissue and support internal cleansing. Diet and lifestyle counseling sessions educated participants on the concept of “Food as Medicine” for sustainable weight management. Continuous clinical monitoring of BMI and vital parameters ensured objective tracking of physiological progress throughout the programme.

The collaboration with CCRYN under the Ministry of AYUSH underscores the national significance of this initiative. Participants completed the programme with measurable improvements in physical parameters along with practical knowledge and motivation to maintain a healthy body weight through natural methods.
