The Department of Community Medicine, Subharti Medical College, Meerut, successfully organized a one-day workshop on the topic “Neuroscience of Meditation and its Role in the Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).” The program was held at the Hari Singh Nalwa Convention Centre (Council Hall) of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, with enthusiastic participation from medical experts, faculty members, and postgraduate students.
The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Principal Dr. M.K. Mittal, Dr. Sudhir Kheterpal, Dr. Deepak Goyal, Dr. Pawan Parashar, Dr. Rahul Bansal, Dr. Rani, and Dr. Varsha Chaudhary.
The primary objective of the workshop was to highlight the role of mental health and meditation in preventing the rapidly increasing burden of non-communicable diseases in modern times. On this occasion, senior neuro-physician Dr. Sudhir Kheterpal from Delhi elaborated on the concept of holistic health and human physiology. Prof. and Head of Deptt, Dr. Deepak Goyal from HIMS, Jolly Grant, Dehradun, shared valuable insights on the ancient philosophy of meditation and the neuroscience of sleep.
Dr. Rahul Bansal, Professor and Advisor at Subharti Medical College, emphasized the preventive role of meditation, stating that it not only promotes mental peace but also helps in preventing hypertension, diabetes, and other lifestyle -related diseases.
During the program, Dr. Anshi conducted a 15–20 minute meditation session for the participants. Additionally, group discussions, panel discussions, and participant feedback sessions were organized. These activities provided practical exposure and helped deepen participants’ understanding of the subject.The workshop witnessed participation from around 70 faculty members and postgraduate students from institutions including Lala Lajpat Rai Medical College, Kalyan Singh Medical College Bulandshahr, Government Medical College Saharanpur, Shri Guru Ram Rai Medical College (Dehradun), Muzaffarnagar Medical College Muzaffarnagar and various College and departments of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, including Nursing, Naturopathy & Yogic Sciences and Buddhist Studies.
The event was organized under the leadership of Organizing Chairman Dr. Pawan Parashar, Scientific Committee Chairman Dr. Rahul Bansal, Organizing Secretary Dr. Varsha Chaudhary, Joint Secretary Dr. Rijul Ranjan, and Media & Event Manager Dr. Sartaj Ahmad.
