EXTENSION OUTREACH PROGRAM ORGANIZED BY DEPARTMENT OF MUSCULOSKELETAL PHYSIOTHERAPY, JPSCP, SVSU

The Department of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, JPSCP, SVSU, successfully organized an Extension Outreach Program under Institutional Social Responsibility (ISR) on 11th April 2026 at Ishwar Chand Vidhyasagar School, SVSU. The program was conducted on the occasion of Jyotirao Phule Jayanti, aiming to promote health awareness and educational support among primary school students.The primary objective of the program was to create awareness regarding musculoskeletal health at an early age and to identify any potential postural or physical abnormalities among school children. A total of 50 students actively participated in the outreach activity. The program was conducted from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM under program was conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Danish Nouman, Head of the Department, with the active involvement of Dr. Apporva Yadav, Assistant Professor, along with postgraduate students of M.P.T 1st year including Dr. Shivam Mishra, Dr. Aanchal Gupta, Dr. Kaishki Srivastava, Dr. Yashita Rana, Dr. Abhishek, and Dr. Divyansh Soam. The outreach program included a comprehensive musculoskeletal screening session, where students underwent basic physical assessments focusing on posture, spinal alignment, joint mobility, and muscle flexibility. Special attention was given to identifying common issues such as forward head posture, rounded shoulders, and early signs of spinal deviations. The screening helped in early detection and provided valuable insights for preventive care.In addition to the screening, an interactive awareness session was conducted to educate students about the importance of maintaining correct posture, engaging in regular physical activity, and adopting healthy lifestyle habits. The physiotherapy team demonstrated simple exercises and posture correction techniques suitable for school-going children, ensuring better understanding and practical application.As part of the social responsibility initiative, books and stationery items were also distributed among the students to encourage their educational growth and motivation. This gesture aimed to support their academic journey while emphasizing the importance of a healthy body and an educated mind.

The program successfully combined health promotion with educational support, reflecting the department’s commitment to community engagement and holistic development. The initiative not only enhanced awareness among young students but also provided hands-on learning experience to postgraduate students in community-based physiotherapy practice.

Overall, the Extension Outreach Program was a meaningful step towards building a healthier and more informed younger generation, aligned with the vision of “Healthy body, educated mind – building a better future.”
