Report on Hands-on Skill Workshop
Panna Dhai Maa Subharti Nursing College, in collaboration with Vidyanta Skill Pvt. Ltd., successfully organised a two-days Hands-on Skill Workshop on 13th and 14th May 2026 at the Rani Laxmibai Auditorium with the objective of enhancing professional skills and strengthening clinical competencies among nursing students and faculty members.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome to all the respected dignitaries, Guest of Honor Brig. Dr. Amita Devrani, Retired Principal from AFMC Pune, faculty members, trainers, and students present on the occasion. The event aimed to provide practical exposure and hands-on learning experiences to participants, thereby improving their confidence and clinical efficiency in patient care.
The workshop was organised under the theme “Shaping the Future of Learning with Simulation” and focused on simulation-based sessions, clinical expert sessions, scenario-based learning, and simulation-based assessment. The workshop highlighted the importance of bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical clinical application through experiential learning and simulation-based education. The workshop began with the ceremonial lamp lighting by the dignitaries. The lamp lighting symbolised knowledge, wisdom, and enlightenment, marking the beginning of an enriching academic and practical learning session.
Following the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Geeta Parwanda, Principal & Dean, Panna Dhai Maa Subharti Nursing College, shared motivating words with the students. In her address, she highlighted the importance of skill-based learning in nursing education and appreciated the collaborative efforts made to organise such an informative workshop for students and faculty members.
The programme further introduced the expert trainers who guided the participants throughout the workshop with their valuable knowledge and practical expertise. The trainers included Ms. Monika Gamon – Simulation Expert, Ms. Fiona Kuriakose – Clinical Instructor, Ms. Bandana Bhujel – Clinical Instructor, Ms. Andriya Lal – Clinical Instructor, and Ms. Mariya Biji – Clinical Instructor.
All the trainers were warmly welcomed and appreciated for sharing their professional experiences and practical knowledge with the participants.
The session was then handed over to Ms. Monika Gamon, Simulation Expert, for the commencement of the Hands-on Skill Workshop. The students were divided into four groups according to colour codes and were guided to different skill stations for practical learning sessions. The skill stations included Drugs, Drips & Drops, Infection & Inflammation, Trauma & Tear, and Wound Dressing.
During the sessions, participants received hands-on practice on simulators and moulage patients along with instructor-led demonstrations and scenario-based training exercises. The “Drugs, Drips & Drops” station focused on medication administration, drug calculations, fluid management, and understanding high-risk medications. The “Infection & Inflammation” station provided training on hand hygiene, PPE, biomedical waste management, transmission-based precautions, and prevention of needle-stick injuries. The “Trauma & Tear” station focused on rapid assessment, triage management, trauma care, and patient stabilisation techniques.
The workshop proved to be highly informative, interactive, and beneficial for all attendees. Around 300 + Participants gained practical exposure, improved their clinical understanding, and enhanced their professional competencies through active participation in the sessions. The workshop also promoted critical thinking, clinical judgement, teamwork, and evidence-based nursing practices through simulation-based learning activities. The workshop was successfully conducted under the guidance of Dr. Geeta Parwanda Ma’am, Principal, PDMSNC, whose continuous support and encouragement contributed significantly to the successful organisation of the programme.
