The chief guest and keynote speaker, Dr. Seema Sharma, Head of the Department of Languages, stated that Hindi journalism is not merely a medium of information but also a powerful expression of India’s cultural consciousness and democratic values. She said, “Hindi journalism has played a significant role in shaping public opinion from the freedom movement to the present day. Today, it is essential for young journalists to make truth, impartiality, and social responsibility the foundation of their profession.”
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ashish Dipankar highlighted the history and contemporary landscape of Hindi journalism. He remarked, “Technology has transformed the nature of journalism, but its core values remain unchanged. The credibility of Hindi journalism is its greatest asset, and it must be preserved under all circumstances.” He encouraged students to pursue journalism that is factual, sensitive, and committed to public welfare.
On this occasion, Dr. Preeti Singh, Assistant Professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, said, “Hindi Journalism Day reminds us of the dedication and struggles of those journalists who ignited awareness and social transformation in society. Students should understand the ethical standards of journalism and make positive use of emerging technologies.”
The programme was coordinated and hosted by Dr. Santosh Kumar Gautam, Associate Professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. Highlighting the historical significance of Hindi Journalism Day, he stated that Hindi journalism remains a strong pillar of Indian democracy.
At the conclusion of the programme, Dr. Ashutosh Verma delivered the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to all the guests, faculty members, and students. Faculty members, research scholars, non-teaching staff, and students of the department actively participated in the event.
