DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION INAUGURATES SPORTS WEEK CELEBRATION AND CONDUCTS PAINTING COMPETITION IN ASSOCIATION WITH UNIVERSITY SPORTS COMMITTEE
The Department of Physical Education, Faculty of Education, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, formally inaugurated Sports Week 2026 today, in association with the University Sports Committee, with the participation of over 70 students, faculty members and dignitaries from across the University.
The Inaugural Ceremony was presided over by Dr. Pintu Mishra, Dean, Faculty of Education, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest and formally inaugurated the celebration. Dr. Manju Adhikari, Head, Department of Physical Education, extended a formal welcome to the dignitaries, faculty members and student participants gathered for the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ankit Singh Jadon delivered a speech highlighting the significance and objectives of Sports Week 2026, underlining the celebration’s emphasis on physical fitness, discipline and inclusion. Dr. Praveen Kumar, Associate Professor and Chairman, University Sports Committee, proposed the Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the support extended by the University administration and participating departments.
The occasion was also graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Sartaj, Dean, Students’ Welfare; Dr. Mukesh Ruhela, Professor, Department of Environmental Science; and Prof. Dr. Anjo Raj, Head, Department of Education, along with faculty members and students from various other departments of the University.
Following the inaugural proceedings, the Inter-College Painting Competition was conducted as part of the Day 1 celebration. Ms. Prachi Sharma of the BPT Department secured the First Prize, while the Second and Third Prizes were shared among Mansi, Medha Mishra and Manshvi.
The event was hosted by Mr. Sanjith TK, Assistant Professor, Department of Physical Education, who anchored the proceedings throughout the ceremony.
Sports Week 2026 will continue over the coming days with a Mass Yoga Demonstration, March Past and Mass Demonstration Competition, culminating in the celebration of National Sports Day 2026 on 29 August 2026.
