Meerut, 30 August 2026
Meerut: The Department of Physical Education, Faculty of Education, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, in association with the University Sports Committee, today conducted “Sunday on Cycle (SoC) – BRICS Run & Ride,” held as part of Day 3 of the nationwide “Special Sundays on Cycle” edition under the Fit India Movement, celebrating National Sports Day in conjunction with the BRICS sporting calendar.
The cycling rally saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members and staff of the University, who came together on a Sunday morning to promote the values of fitness, community engagement and active living central to the Fit India initiative.
In keeping with the spirit of the national campaign, the University mobilized its own sporting ecosystem for the event, drawing participation from across departments and aligning with the campaign’s broader framework of engaging regional training centres, affiliated institutions and local stakeholders in a unified cycling movement.
The ride was also supported through local coordination with University-affiliated clubs, the Sports Committee and other institutional stakeholders, reflecting the campaign’s emphasis on strong local partnerships to ensure wide-based participation and community reach.
The event was structured to accommodate multiple participation formats, including family-friendly segments, women-led and youth participation, athlete-led ride groups, and inclusive short community loops, ensuring that riders of varying age groups and fitness levels could take part comfortably and meaningfully.
A common identity was maintained throughout the ride through a shared pledge, uniform route signage and consistent visual branding, in line with the national campaign’s toolkit, reinforcing a sense of unity and shared purpose among participants across the ride.
The Department of Physical Education reaffirmed that such participation in national fitness initiatives forms an important part of its continued efforts to promote an active, health-conscious campus culture, in keeping with the broader vision of the Fit India Movement and the spirit of National Sports Day.
