The Alumni Lecture on “Career in Legal Profession” was organized by Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of Law with the objective of exposing students to the wide range of career opportunities available within the legal profession and guiding them on how to strategically plan their professional journey from the very early years of their legal education.
The session commenced with a formal introduction of the guest speaker by Mr. Anurag Choudhary, Assistant Professor and Member, Alumni Trust. He briefly apprised the students of Adv. Anant Jemini’s professional standing as a practicing advocate before the District & Sessions Court, Meerut, the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court, and the Delhi High Court, and his role as Panel Advocate for Tata Projects Limited, Mumbai.
Speaking through a dedicated presentation titled “Legal Career in the Legal Profession,” Adv. Anant Jemini began by encouraging students to introspect on why they had chosen law and to develop an early vision of the kind of professional they wished to become. He emphasized that a legal degree is not an end in itself but a gateway to multiple professions, and that foundations built on knowledge, communication, ethics, research and practical exposure determine how far a student can progress in the profession.
He also explained opportunities in the corporate sector and law firms as a corporate lawyer, law firm associate, legal advisor, or in banking, finance and commercial practice as well as pathways into higher education and academia through LL.M., UGC-NET, and Ph.D., leading to teaching and research careers.He offered concrete guidance for first-year students, urging them to regularly follow legal news and judgments, strengthen their fundamentals in the Constitution and jurisprudence, improve their legal communication in English and Hindi, participate actively in moot courts, debates and seminars, observe court proceedings whenever possible, and maintain a personal legal notebook of important cases, concepts and career goals.
The lecture was highly interactive, with students posing questions on choosing between litigation and corporate practice, preparing for judicial service examinations, and balancing internships with academic commitments. Adv. Anant Jemini addressed each query with practical examples drawn from his own professional journey across the District Court, the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court, and the Delhi High Court, making the session relatable and engaging for the students.
The organizing team placed on record its deep appreciation for our Hon’ble Director, Justice Rajesh Chandra (Former Justice, Allahabad High Court), whose continued mentorship remains instrumental in fostering practice-oriented legal education among students. Special thanks were also conveyed to Dean, Prof. (Dr.) Reena Bishnoi, for her unwavering support and encouragement in facilitating such enriching alumni interactions.
At the conclusion of the session, a Certificate of Appreciation was presented to Adv. Anant Jemini by Mr. Anurag Choudhary, Assistant Professor and Member, Alumni Trust, in recognition of his valuable time and insights shared with the students. This was followed by a formal vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Anurag Choudhary, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the speaker for his enriching guidance and thanked all participants for their active involvement, which made the session informative, motivating and memorable.
